our approaches

psychodynamic therapy

Are you struggling with pain associated with anxiety, depression or feeling stuck? Do past traumas or feelings of low self-esteem challenge your relationships?

Psychodynamic work allows clients to identify how patterns in thoughts, beliefs, and emotions- both conscious and unconscious- affect our everyday lives. By gaining a deeper understanding of our inner lives, past and present, we live a more full, rich, and satisfied life.

integrative therapy

A progressive form of therapy, integrative work makes use of both psychoanalytic and behavioral techniques to tailor treatment options to the individual. The client and therapist explore how a client might approach a particular dilemma, learning new skills and insights on the road to greater self-discovery and empowerment.

mind-body therapies

Stressed? The disconnect we often feel can be softened when we are grounded, connected, and confident. Somatic work is the reconnection of mind, body, and soul, often revealing our intuition or inner guide.

Our sense of trust is reinforced when we utilize our sensations and observations as tools, and learn to communicate effectively with ourselves and others. Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy is one component of Mind-Body connection that works primarily with building awareness of thoughts, creating agency and power in our world.

trauma-informed therapy

Healing from trauma involves connecting with the inner experience in a manageable, predictable, and safe way. Because trauma is so individualized and personal, it matters how a therapist attends to a client’s lived experience.  Attunement, pacing, and presence are key to supporting a client in the transformation toward a creative, vital, peaceful life, full of connection.

Instead of re-traumatizing a client through well-intentioned but ill-informed practices, a trauma-informed therapist will lead brain structures back into balance, replacing surviving with thriving.

multicultural & lgbtqia+

Cultural competence and cultural humility are the cornerstones of multicultural and inclusive therapy. This requires understanding differences in worldviews between majority and socially devalued people.

In a society that invalidates marginalized individuals, the result is often silence. We prioritize hearing each other’s stories and raising voices in the hopes of justice and equality. You have allies here.

couples counseling

Rather than a social construction or a repetition of family (learned) relationships, attachment-based therapy has the unique opportunity to explore relationships as they are happening. This dynamic offers practice and insight into the vast world of needs: an attempt at meeting our own emotional needs and those of the relationship.

EFT (Emotion Focussed Therapy) restores attachment security and resolves long standing conflict, patterned responses, and differences. Learning to see how a relationship is framed relieves the sense of isolation that each partner feels and offers new responses toward safe, easy connection.

dbt

DBT strategies have also been researched and proven to be beneficial individuals struggling with addiction, compulsive behaviors, and personality disorders. Learn to find balance and equanimity within yourself.
